2. Overview of Data Processing
WatchMyCalendar syncs calendar data from your phone to your Wear OS smartwatch. The following categories of data are processed:
a) Calendar Data (Core Function)
The app reads events from the calendars you selected on your phone and transmits them to your paired smartwatch. This transmission happens via Google Play Services' Wearable Data Layer API — a communication channel between your own paired devices. We do not operate our own server that receives or permanently stores this calendar data. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of a contract / providing the feature you requested).
b) Bug Reports (only on your own action)
WatchMyCalendar does not use any automatic crash or usage data collection (no Firebase Crashlytics, no Firebase Analytics). No device or usage data is collected in the background.
The app settings include a "Report a problem" button. Tapping it opens a pre-filled email draft in your email app containing technical diagnostic data (e.g. smartwatch connection status, Google Play Services version, last sync timestamps, last error message) plus space for your own description of the issue. Data is only sent if you actually send the email yourself — nothing is transmitted automatically or without your active action. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (consent through the active send action) or Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in resolving reported bugs).
Independently of this, Google provides aggregated, anonymous crash and ANR statistics (Android Vitals) via the Play Console based on the Play Store installation itself — this does not use any additional SDK within the app.
c) Website Analytics (Umami)
For anonymous, aggregated usage statistics of this website we use Umami, self-hosted on our own infrastructure within the EU. Umami does not use cookies, does not build cross-device profiles, and does not store full IP addresses. No data is transferred to third parties or third countries. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in anonymous analytics without personal reference).
d) Payment Processing (Google Play Billing)
Purchasing paid features (Plus/Pro/Premium) uses Google Play Billing. The entire payment process — including payment method, billing details, and payment processing — is handled entirely by Google Play. We only receive a purchase confirmation (a token used to unlock the purchased tier on your account), never payment details such as card or bank information. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of the purchase contract you entered into).
3. Retention Period
Calendar data on the smartwatch is refreshed on every sync and not retained beyond that. Bug reports remain as an email in your own sent folder and in our email inbox until no longer needed to resolve the issue.
4. Your Rights
You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and objection to processing. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.
5. Changes
This privacy policy will be updated when the app's functionality changes (e.g. activation of paid features).
